Everyone talks about “being at the right place, at the right time.” With marketing, it’s the same concept - if you don’t engage the customer in a way and time that appeals to them, then your efforts just aren’t going to work. Marketing Automation was once coined as “software developed to automate so-called repetitive tasks.” While this is still true, the world of marketing is moving away from this idea as the customer’s mindset changes. Successful Marketing Automation works with being able to set up the automation aspect, like automated emails and promotions, and tailoring it to each customers need specifically at the time that they need it. We tend to think that everyone is looking to buy “right now,” but while this may be true, most customers are on your website to browse your site and find information about a purchase that they might want to make in the future. Getting customers early when they are at the start of exploring the possible solutions would decrease the chance of having to use an expensive marketing channel and probably save you a lot of money so be proactive when you are setting up your marketing automation. Customers are going to change their minds when they are going through the purchase process. Keep an eye on the pages they visit more frequently and how they are getting to the site - these hints are going to tell you what email to send and when. Start the awareness early in the purchase process and set certain triggers so that an email will be sent when customers look at these different trigger products. Send emails and campaigns to new customers. These emails are used to bring awareness to different products and to get them to come back to your website. You can also send out emails for different people who haven’t visited in a while and to people who have abandoned their cart. You can even personalize the experience and give them promotions on the things that they left in their cart so they will come back. Marketing automation is a great idea when it comes to getting people to come back or make a purchase and makes it easier to to get the right information to the customer at the right time.
